Magic Torch Comics presents a terrifying selection of stories adapted from and inspired by Inverclyde folklore and legends. Within, are cursed treasure maps, serpent worshipping cultists, trolls, ghosts, undead pirates and graverobbers in tales told by some of our most infamous horrors - Captain Kidd, Granny Kempock and Auld Dunrod.

 

First created in 2013 to share terrible tales from Inverclyde's history, this special version includes some new material and a preview of our Captain Kidd pirate comic, 'I Thought I Was Undone'.

GHOULISH GAMES

Join us for some classic drama games with a Galoshans twist! Led by Saffron Gillies. Age 5-7: 10 – 11am // Age 8-12: 12 – 2pm.

THE WITCHES OF CROW MOUNT
with Beacon Arts Centre
 

Join Steven Lauder-Russell for a fun filled, storytelling workshop exploring the true story of witches and the ancient and mysterious area of Greenock, Crow Mount. Culminating in creating a short film performance to be shared across Beacon Arts Centre’s online platforms. 
 

Step 1: Exploring the story via Zoom

Saturday 31 October 2020 / 11am – 12pm  

Step 2: Record your lines 

At home you will record lines assigned to you to contribute to the final film. Get creative with spooky lighting, using movement and action, and speaking your lines clearly and with passion 

Deadline: Tuesday 3 November 2020 / 12pm 

 

Step 3: Watch the film online and complete creative tasks 

Monday 9 November 2020 

You will be able to watch your magnificent creation via the Beacon Arts Centre website. For the remaining 3-weeks of November, you will receive weekly creative tasks to complete by email.

Welcome to this relaxed, sensory spooky storytelling session around the campfire. Age 4-7: 10.30 – 11am & 11.30am – 12pm. Age 4-7: 12.30 – 1pm. Age 8 – 12: 1.30 – 2pm. 

The 12.30pm & 1.30pm sessions are designed for children with additional support needs.

ZOMBIE PIRATES MINI SHIPBUILDING CREATIVE CHALLENGE

Inverclyde is under attack!! Ship builders urgently needed! Zombie pirates are stranded ashore in Inverclyde – their ship wrecked just off Greenock and without a way of returning to sea they are running wild across Inverclyde!

 

Save the citizens of Inverclyde by building a new ship to send the zombie pirates back to sea! Build your boat from any shipbuilding materials at home (lego, play doh, card, paper, junk).

 

Prizes available for the most creative and innovative boat that floats well enough to send those zombie pirates off on their merry way!
